NEWS .... NEWS .... NEWS .... NEWS .... NEWS ....

The Boundaries Commission for Scotland have today (21st May) announced that they propose to create new Holyrood constituencies of Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch, and Inverness and Nairn.

Aviemore, Kincraig, Kingussie, Newtonmore, Laggan and Dalwhinnie would be in with Fort William, Skye and Dingwall!

Carrbridge, Boat of Garten, Nethy Bridge and Grantown would be in with Inverness and Nairn - and the Strathspey identity would disappear altogether. This disgraceful exercise by faceless number crunchers would carve up Badenoch and Strathspey simply to make the numbers add up elsewhere. The commission's earlier consultations on potential changes gave no hint whatsoever of this option. If, like me, you believe that the commission must give us a chance to have our say, and must reverse this appalling decision, please register your support for my campaign. The more people who sign my e-petition, the harder it will be for these beaurocrats to force this through. Thank you for your support!

It will also be vitally important that individuals and groups throughout the area that are concerned about this proposal write directly to the commission with their views - full details including maps and how to make a submission can be found on this link :

YES - I want to support the campaign to keep Badenoch and Strathspey together in a single Holyrood constituency, with our natural neighbours in Nairn and Inverness

Failte!

My name is Dave Fallows and I was elected to the Highland Council in the new multi-member ward of Badenoch and Strathspey - ward 21 in the Highland Council on May 3rd 2007.

I currently serve on the Highland Council Housing and Social Work Committee, The Tec Services Committee, the Joint Highland and Islands Fire Board and the Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch and Strathspey Planning Application and Review Committee. I also represent the council on the Badenoch and Strathspey Area NHS Locality Group, Voluntary Action Badenoch and Strathspey and The Speyside Way Management Group.

From September 2007, I was appointed as one of the Highland Council's nominated members of the Cairngorms National Park Authority, and am additionally a member of that authority's Finance Committee and a Director of the Cairngorms Outdoor Access Trust

My job now is to serve the communities and people of this very special part of the Highlands as best I can with whatever issues are of concern to us all. If you have any concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me!
